       My Grandfather, Leo Zemelman, moved from Poland to Kansas City in 1960 to work as a tailor at Rothchild's. After a few years, he struck out on his own with a shop in the Brookside neighborhood. Leo's Tailor Shop thrived for nearly fifty years on the corner of 63rd and Oak. It was a hub for gentleman, politicians, and ne'er do wells alike. He trained his son-in-law, my father, in the clothing business and taught him to sew. My father opened Rick's Tailoring and Menswear in 1978 and operated until early 2014 when we closed it to focus on Houndstooth. 

       We strive to respect the values of those who came before us through hard work, attention to detail, friendly unpretentious customer service, and fine craftsmanship not often found in modern society.
